The brand ambassador of Vadodara Marathon, Dr. Bhagwatiben Oza has been conferred the Senior Citizen Award in the Sports and Adventure category by the President on the occasion of Senior Citizen Day. Dr. Bhagwatiben Oza is the only elder of the state to receive this honor this year. The award was presented by President Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Delhi on the occasion of Senior Citizens Day on 1st October.
At the age of 65, when the elders are usually do prayers & devotion to God and suffers from small and big ones pains, so at that time Dr. Bhagwatiben started participating in sports competitions. Even after 15 years she still competes in one or the other competitions, sometimes in long runs, sometimes in swimming competitions and even in cycling also. In just 15 years, she won about 30 state and national level medals.
In this regard, Dr. Bhagwatiben Oza said, "Even at the age of 80, I am living an inspiring life, all the credit for which goes to exercise. Exercise gives me physical and mental health. This award is for everyone who wants to live life to the fullest."
When I was informed about this award, I was going to take part in a swimming competition in Rajkot. And even those who informed me about the prize when I came to take part in the competition were amazed.
At the age of 65 years she participated in Mission Sadbhavana with the Indian Army during the Kargil war. For many of his outstanding achievements, she has been awarded by the President in the category of Sports and Adventure, including Momento, Citation and a prize of Rs 2.5 lakh. This award is as important as Padma Shri.
Regarding this, the chairperson of Vadodara Marathon, Mrs. Tejal Amin said, "Dr. Bhagwatiben Oza is the pride of not only Vadodara Marathon but the whole of Vadodara. Bhagwatiben , who is living a very energetic life at this age, is becoming an inspiration for all."
