Vadodara gears up for 5th January 2020 with the 9th Edition of the MG Vadodara International Marathon. The MG Vadodara International Marathon is an AIMS and AFI certified race and ranked in the top 10 of India's marathon majors having a history of attracting elite and professional runners from all over the country as well as from abroad, along with citizens from all walks of life across Gujarat and India. With over 1,00,000 registrations in the 2019 edition the MGVM has established itself as India's largest city marathon and promises to be even larger in the 9th Edition.

The MG Vadodara International Marathon 2020 echoes the call of our Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and the launch of the FIT INDIA Movement. MGVM 2020 is showcasing the message of FIT INDIA as its main theme, and is grateful to the Prime Minister for bringing fitness to the forefront, a cause that is already imbibed in the Vadodara Marathon ethos which has promoted running for fitness in Vadodara city for almost a decade.
The MGVM2020 is launching this year’s edition with a lively exercise routine The VaMo FitStep Challenge. Speaking at the launch of the MGVM 2020, Smt. Tejal Amin, Chairperson of the MG Vadodara Marathon, said, „The VaMo FitStep is an initiative to take the #fitindiamovement to the masses reaching out to homemakers, to Corporate sectors, professionals, schools and institutes. This one minute exercise regime is beneficial, doable and can be readily adapted in the daily routine of all age groups." MG Motor India has announced its third consecutive association with the 9thedition of the Vadodara International Marathon as its sponsor. By sponsoring the event, the carmaker also aims to support and enhance awareness about the local civic and social causes undertaken by the Vadodara Marathon. It is a matter of pride that MG Vadodara International Marathon has been invited to be part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group Qualifying Events giving runners a chance to win World Ranking Points. With this entry the MGVM 2020 enters an elite group of international marathons which include the Tokyo, Boston, Virgin Money London, BMW BERLIN, Bank of America Chicago and TCS New York City Marathons.
MG Vadodara International Marathon, keeping in line with its tradition of SportsSeva-Swacchata is adopting the cause of Save Water to support the nationwide Jal Shakti Abhiyaan initiated by the Hon Prime Minister. To promote awareness, the MGVM2020 will soon host a online quiz for school children centred around this theme and the message of Fitness. The quiz will also be conducted on Radio Mirchi for the citizens of Vadodara.
The MG Vadodara International Marathon also aims to set new benchmarks in runner’s comfort by introducing more medical booths, upgraded after race recovery zones and more monitoring stations. With a thrust on outstation runners the MG Vadodara International Marathon team is also working on ways for comfortable stay options.
